Right in the heart of downtown Vancouver is this lovely small jewel of a museum/gallery. The collected works are, of course, awe-inspiring and unforgettable. The artist (sculptor, painter, mixed media), Bill Reid, was one of the masters of our era. His life is as interesting as his work. This is definitely the best opportunity to see an extensive collection of... More

The Haida art and history is very interesting to learn more about through exhibits. The Bill Reid Art gallery is very innovative with the new exhibits that they bring on throughout the year - fashion art, innovation and emerging young artists showcased with the master artists.

I fell in love with Bill Reid works of art many years ago on a visit to UBC. today I sought out the Bill Reid gallery and it didn't disappoint. Not only did I learn of his jewelry making but I got to see up close and personal some of his sketches and works on art. I loved my visit... More

This small Downtown gallery displays some of the stunning creations by Canadian artist Bill Reid (Haida and European descent) as well as that done by various First Nations people. Reid helped to ensure that the great art traditions of indigenous peoples in this area of the world continued and thrived. He also successfully infused the Haida art traditions with contemporary... Bill Reid was one of Canada’s and British Columbia’s most accomplished artists, working in a variety of art forms and producing works of immense beauty. This museum celebrates his work. The collection is primarily presented chronologically and describes his development as an artist and member of the arts community. The museum is small; you can easily see it in an... More

This small gallery was not on my list to visit but I am glad I went. The works of art from Bill Ried ranged from sculptures to totem poles to lovely jewelry. Our visit to the Museum of Anthropology had whetted our appetite for the work of Bill Reid and his key role in preserving the cultural heritage of Haida Gwaii. Finding this small museum in Gastown, not far from our hotel, was an unexpected bonus. It contains many of his more important works such as Mythic Messengers, a large bronze frieze... More

This small gallery showcases numerous works by one of Canada's most influential Haida artist. Part of the gallery was under refurbishment but still plenty to appreciate.

As they say at Tiffany, great things sometimes come in small packages, and they are right. This lovely little museum is special in so many ways from its lovely building; to the convenient location; to the helpful, friendly staff; to the spectacular collection of Bill Reid art and other northwestern artifacts. Located in the middle of the hotel district less... More

I was a student at UBC when Bill was carving in a shed behind the Women's Gym reestablishing the culture of the natives, long lost by the missionary zeal of "teaching the natives". This museum is a masterpiece of native art, a true tribute to the returning culture. Don't miss this amazing"little" gallery in the heart of Vancouver.
