Walk the Wild Side is a 11km hike historically used by the Ahousaht people. Visitors now have the opportunity to experience the culture of the trail while hiking along forest boardwalk and 8 gorgeous beaches. Used by the Ahousaht people for thousands of years, Walk the Wild Side Trail is an 11km escape into the remote wilderness of Clayoquot Sound. This was an absolutely incredible over night hike. Make sure you ask for a map at the office (we ended up getting lost on the trail of tears thinking it was the next cut through). The people of Ahousat are so very welcoming. We timed...More

I've done this trail 5 times, and love it. The staff are so friendly and helpful. You cross seven beaches to get to Cow Bay! Try to time it, though, when there's a low tide so that you can ford the river just north of...More

a wonderful trail around a variety of seascapes, everything from right beside the roaring ocean to cliffs overlooking bays where you can look out for miles-and maybe see a whale spout!

Flores Island, near Tofino. Take a water-taxi in Tofino, pay a trail-fee. You can choose " sleep in the lodge or the forest". The trail is long, magic, ...you will probably be aloneee.....with the wolves. ;) . Recommendation: respect the wild trail and keep your...More

This is an easy walk along the coastline. Information boards along the way, lots of benches to sit and reflect and take in the views. Endless opportunities for taking photos. Excellent for everyone.

I have walked the Wild Side at least 50 times. It is my serenity. Walk a beach and then walk through the rain forest to come to another beach. Keep doing this. Each beach is different and each hike through the forest is different. Be...More

This walk should not be missed if you are on Vancouver Island. Gorgeous forest and ocean views. Relatively easy trail to the lighthouse. We did not go on the longer trail but would love to if we are ever back in this area. I cannot...More

We've been wanting to visit the raw Pacific coast for a long time and picked this trail for an up-close experience. This is really remote and isn't somewhere you'll visit on the spur of the moment, but if you want to see the "real" coast...More

I camped on two parts of this trail this summer--at Cow Bay on the north end and Whitesand Cove on the south end. I was kayaking from Tofino to Hot Springs Cove, taking the outer route going out and the inner route coming back. This...More

I have been hiking this trail for 14 years and have never seen a cougar or bear. I do have pictures of cougar prints though. Once the Ahousaht people came and tracked me down because a cougar and I had crossed paths each of... More
