Board the MV Native, an authentic paddlewheeler, for an adventure on the mighty Fraser River! With live narration of facts and fiction about the Fraser and its history, you'll encounter all the activity of a busy working river as well as the ever-present sights and sounds of wildlife such as seals, ospreys, great blue heron, eagles and with luck, salmon and sturgeon. The lush Coast Mountain Range provides a breathtaking backdrop of BC from a "River point of view." The paddlewheeler Native and the 40 passenger catamaran Beta Star have a busy spring-through-fall schedule, which includes day trips from New Westminster to Steveston, Fort Langley and the back-county wilderness of Pitt Lake.

We also offer shorter lunch cruises, fun-filled Wine-and-Dine sunset cruises and Friday/Saturday Pub Nights. New for 2015 are Fraser River North Arm Luncheon Cruises on the catamaran Beta Star and we will be starting our popular Pitt Lake Cruises earlier in the season and running them later than in previous years. Also watch for our amazing boat-bus Harrison Lake cruise on the Beta Star to be featured in August!

With a group booking the Native is available all year round for cruises, weddings, special events, and private functions. Valentine's Day, Christmas Cruises and New Years Eve are a big favourite on the paddlewheeler Native as well! Check our website for our schedule plus other up-coming special events and theme cruises. For 2015 we are featuring a 15% discount on some of our scheduled cruises.

River cruise New Westminster to Steveston

Nice trip 9:30 to 4:30. It was a nice day but, rain or shine, it would be OK. Coffee was sold on board. There was a good commentary all the way explaining history and present day... read more

I was originally going to take a cruise with another company which I had taken before but then I noticed the coupons in travel zoo so I decided to take a chance on this and save some money. I booked the Pitt Lake day cruise over 3 Months in advance. Less than a week before the cruise they inform me... More

I apologize if your experience was not up to your expectations. The Beta Star was in the shipyard for repairs, our expectations were that she would up and running by the time your cruise would take place. Unfortunately this did not happen. We therefore scheduled two cruises to Pitt Lake on the MV Native to accommodate all those people that... More

Unique paddlewheeler experience. Comfortable main deck and covered and open upper decks. Very informative commentary covered early history of the Fraser and present-day activities (thanks Mark!). Delicious buffet lunch. Full bar servicer (Willy makes the best B-52 coffees on the West Coast!). Highly recommend this trip. I would take it again.

My sister-in-law and I recently to a paddlewheeler Riverboat Cruise to Steveston - 9:30am - 5:00pm. This is an excellent and relaxing way to ride the beautiful Fraser River. We were treated to a very detailed and colourful commentary from a very knowledgeable Crew member, pointing out the various areas of interest on our trip to Steveston. Just prior to... More

4 of us arrived at 0845 am at the New Westminster Quay., whereupon we were promptly checked in a 9 am. We found a nice table for four inside the upper deck, (it was cloudy and ~65'F, but many passengers stayed on the open upper deck) The 104 GT paddle wheeler departed exactly at 0930 hrs. with Captain Doug Leaney... This was a day cruise leaving from the wharf at New Westminster Quay with the destination of Pitt Lake. We had a group of 9 people and utilized Travelzoo tickets. Beautiful day, some cloud cover and then the sun came out. There are 2 decks to sit on, an upper deck which can be cool, if it is breezy or... More

We wanted to see the annual Festival of Fire fireworks display in the Vancouver harbour but were reluctant to drive or take transit downtown. I found that the Paddlewheeler River boat cruises offered a dinner cruise from New Westminster for each night of the festival. The price was high but we decided to take a chance and were very glad... It was a drizzly day in June but this did not dampen the enthusiasm of 9 teacher friends. We sat on the top deck, which was protected from the rain with plastic curtains. We were offered blankets, which was accepted by several of us. The commentator was full of knowledge about this mighty working river. After about an hour of... More

if you want to see the surrounding area along the Fraser River then this is the way to go, some views are better than others industrial areas vs rural farmland, going east the views are great, nothing beats a nice river cruise on a summer evening, parking is good and the sunsets are fantastic

We took the Saturday tour up the Fraser River to Pitt Lake. While the weather didn't co-operate we still had a lovely time. The narrator was great and entertaining. Learned lots about the area from him. Lunch was enjoyable and all in all it was a lovely relaxing date. The top deck of the boat was covered so we could... More
