The area is very nice. Small boutiques, and some of the best restaurants in the city. Far safer than it might look at night.

The old City Block, gives you a feel of walking back in time. Lots of unique shops, and treasures can be found. Do no rush, as you may miss the details on the old buildings. A must for anyone visiting Nanaimo.

A couple of nice streets and shops, but don't blink, you'll miss it. I understand a large part of it was destroyed in a fire, which is a shame. It needs to be restored because as it is, there isn't much to it.More

I really love the Old City Quarter as there are some areas where you could swear that you are in a cleaner, more pleasant version of San Francisco's North Beach/Russian Hill area. Many of the stores and restaurants here are funky and fun, and although...More

The old city quarter is my favorite place to be so much more quaint querky and interesting than the newer town. I shopped and was able to sit sip and people watch. A great place to pass some time.
