The Columbia Icefields are spectacular. Mighty glaciers effectively on the road side. The Information Cente is on the left if going from Jasper to Banff. You can purchase tickets to go on a tour of the Glacier. It is commercial and if you have never...More

It's definitely a tourist conveyer bely but it is well worth it. You travel by regular bus and then an ice bus to get to the glacier. Be sure to do it within the next few years as the glacier is receding and won't be...More

Great views and great gift shop. Sitting on the deck with public telescopes and an inspiring view we enjoyed soup and sandwiches from the cafeteria. Indoors is packed elbow to elbow with bus travelers lining up snow bus tours to the glacier or an additional...More

We stopped here while driving from Jasper to Banff. The visitor Centre offers food options and it was the most chaotic, disorganized and horrible pit stop of our trip. It is a cafeteria style setting, and there was no food ready when there were 50...More

This was an amazing trip. A little step at first, but once on the ice the walk was amazing. The wind was welcome as a means of cooling off.

This is a dying glacier. I saw it summer. It has receded at least 100metres over the last 25 years. Take a light windbreaker in summer because the winds make it chilly.

Second visit to the ice fields in 10 years. It's sad to see the decline of the glacier since the early 1900's. We walked up to the top viewpoint and it was a beautiful brisk day but not cold. This is one of the most...More

Truly a unique experience to actually drive out onto a glacier and walk on top of it as it moves, ever so slowly, underneath you.

Breath-taking views in every direction. The trip out onto the glacier in the giant "ice buggies" very cool experience. The Glacier Skywalk is feat of engineering in itself and offers an exhilarating view of the Sunwapta canyon 900 feet below. If you're really feeling brave...More

Our kids also loved the ATV tours at Toby Creek, though that is a further drive. There are float and white water trips out of Jasper, horseback riding, and paddle boats, kayaks, and canoes that our kids loved. There are tons... More

Well, if you drove straight Jasper to Lake Louise it would take about 5 hours. (Google maps says 7 hours 15 minutes but it's only 233 kms) The speed limit varies between 50 and 90 kms the whole way so you do with those... More
