Set in picturesque Muskoseepi Park, the Grande Prairie Museum, opened in 1971 with a focus on preserving the pioneer history of the area. The Museum’s galleries highlight the first homesteaders and those who contributed to the development of the Peace Region. Visitors will also find a replica paleontological dig site featuring locally found bones of an Edmontosaurus. Other gallery exhibits include Prehistoric stone artifacts used by the first Aboriginal people to settle this area, transportation artifacts including a replica train station and military and war displays. The Grande Prairie Museum consists of the Rodacker/Campbell Gallery located in the main museum building, which is home to our temporary and permanent exhibits, as well as an outdoor Heritage Village.

This is a lovely museum which displays many of the early settler's tools, and early settler's buildings. If anyone would like to see any indigenous displays, they showcase a few arrowheads. Look for any upcoming events, such as the halloween wagon ride...through the haunted village....More

Great collection of artifacts from the past. Including old buildings and machinery. Grande Prairie was the last place in Alberta to be homesteaded. Love the old wood stoves. Imagine living in wood cabins in the cold winters here.More

While visiting the Hubs folks, and since it was my first time in GP, I convinced everyone to visit the museum. It was a cute educational little place.

Toured again yesterday. New exhibits and different features to enjoy! Excellent value too...free! Grand boys learn something new each time about our history and olde world values shaped by the items we used daily. Highly recommend!

It's pretty cool - there's more than you'd expect in there. There's a little village attached that wasn't open in the winter - the albino moose was memorable....and the moose in a can stuffed animal
