This is a little piece of nature right in the middle of the city of Calgary. It isn't huge, but it is free and a great place to unwind. There are several pathways through the centre and you will see lots of different birds and...More

During our recent visit to Calgary we decided to give the bid sanctuary a visit. I'm rather into wildlife and landscape photography at the moment and we both like going on walks so it seemed a bit of a no brainer. Sadly I am used...More

A very pleasant walk alongside a small lake. One has the choice of a number of trails and most of these are wheelchair friendly. There were ducks and geese and of course at this time of year ducklings and goslings abound. We felt that this reserve...More

An oasis in the city; very glad we discovered this! Saw 5-6 mule deer, ducks, black-capped chickadees, red-winged blackbirds, and numerous others. The workers in the centre were very friendly and knowledgeable. Was able to take many great photos.

Could spend hours here watching the birds and deer. Lovely shady walking trails on hot sunny days, with the river right beside you. Tons of birds to observe. Great place for photographs.

A lovely, free park in which one can see many types of birds and maybe some deer and a muskrat or two. Hawks, ducks, tree swallows, ospreys, and many others can be seen. Birders often will have their cameras on tripods, waiting for that perfect...More

We saw geese, ducks, seagulls, a magpie, and deer. It was so nice (and free!) that we went back a second time a week later.

You really could spend all day here in the summer. There's always something new in the big lagoon, and park now has trails right to the riverside, on the extreme north side, so that's always fun. There are a lot of deer in the park,...More

As part of our visit to Calgary, my sister and I toured the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary (IBS). There is no charge for this attraction. We were looking for a six-part geocache within this lovely park. After looking at the exhibits, we headed outside and started...More

Jay is right. This is from the City of Calgary site: The Inglewood Bird Sanctuary was greatly impacted by the June 2013 flood. A large amount of manmade debris was left behind and many of the sanctuary’s trails were severely... More
