Every July, millions of people come to Calgary's Stampede Park to take part in one of the world's largest rodeos and other popular activities such as chuckwagon racing and agricultural shows. The event's origins date back to 1912, when American Guy Weadick, a successful trick roper, got support to host an event called "Stampede" to celebrate the "disappearing" Old West. Since then, the event has grown drastically and has evolved into a celebration of the Old West, while reflecting the modern, multicultural aspects of the city.

Truly one of the greatest Outdoor shows in North America. If you are into Rodeos, Cowboys or World Class Entertainers this is the place to be in the second week in July. We have not missed the event in 35 years.

The Stampede is like nothing you have ever experienced before. It is a combination of a rodeo, carnival, county fair, dog show, motocross event, cultural celebration and food festival. It is so big you could spend a week and not see it all. Highlights for...More

Truly is the greatest out door show on earth. Great food to try, attractions to see, rides to take and concerts to enjoy. If your in Calgary during the 10 days of July the show is running I️ highly recommend it.

Location wise, excellent. Event organization- a lot to be desired. Too many volunteers with little information, poor signage. Limited entrances for such a large venue.

I would suggest staying downtown as there is always a lot of entertainment, attractions and Pancake Breakfasts going on. Stampede Park is located on the periphery of downtown; its less than a 5 minute train ride. It takes... More
