But that's it. Located less than 5 minutes north of Banff. If you're lucky a train will pass and then you'll see the roof passing just below you. In short - not impressive at all.

This drive was fairly short, but worth it. When we did this, we didn't see any wildlife. But the beauty was well worth it.

You'll be sharing the parking turnouts with many other sunrise seekers so go early. This is a gorgeous place to catch a sunrise in Banff and we got some great photos!

Mount Rundle and Vermilion lake, a picturesque combination. This time of the year, this area was not busy. You can enjoy a moment of peace. Tree leaves turned into different color, red, orange and yellow, good for photo taking. We went for hiking. unfortunately, wolf...More

Nice lakes, and a peaceful cycling or walking area. Almost no tourists go there because there are other main attractions. Amazing views of the lakes from Juniper Hotel Restaurant.

It was so cool, just driving enjoying the views. A couple of cars pulled over and just to our left are a mama and 2 cubs napping in a tree. Because there was quite a slope down they were pretty much right at eye level.

We drove the road in this area in late afternoon, so it wasn't very busy. It's a tranquil, marshy area, reflecting the dramatic mountains nearby. There are many small pull-offs with informational plaques about the wildlife, etc.

We saw more wildlife on this short drive in the evening at sunset than on the Bow Valley Drive. This is only afew miles from town and there are turn outs and even benches where one can sit.

Very nice, draws less visitors that some other spots in the area. Nice place to watch the sunrise. Get there early to enjoy without the crowds.

Excellent short hike close to the highway, but still getting back to nature. We did not see much wildlife, but you could tell they were active earlier in the morning. Easy, smooth trails.

Yes, You can have dinner at the restaurant in the Juniper Hotel. It is situated on the lower slopes of Mount Norquay and the dinning room has an excellent view of Vermillion Lakes.
