Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I came upon Sabbioneta by surprise and the story of the town, it's visionary founder, the political forces in the north of Italy of the 16th Century....and, then, after the Ducal Palace and the Teatro Antico, there is a Synagogue which remains - vestige of a long ago important community of Jews. The Synagogue that stands is 200 years old - but contains the history of a community that flourished almost 500 years ago. There is also a cemetery outside of the town walls.

It’s all part of a day guided visit with entry ticket valid for the Church, theatre and museum. Well worth going back

Interesting relic of the former Jewish community, who settled here to lend money when such practices were forbidden by the Christian church. The synagogue itself is relatively modern (18th century?), but there is lots of information on the community which is worth the long climb upstairs.

This anchient building is important historically because it traces the will of a small Jewish community to create a congregation and a communal space. This was the closest thing for me to going back to Babylon.

In the land of Catholicism this beautiful synagogue was astonishing. You must see this! This is a small worship area and ancient. There are many wonderful artifacts on display.

I saw as part of an excellent city-sponsored tour of the town.. A great testimonial to Vespasiano Gonzaga's vision and the thriving Jewish life (see the works of the printer Tobias ben Eliezer Foa) of Sabbioneta at a time when Jews were begun to be confined to ghettoes... even though the building itself is from a later date.. Must see.

It's always a surprise to me when I find, in Italy, a trace of Jewish history. It's a short visit, but work a look.
