The cathedral is on the main square (plaza patria) and seems to be closed until after 5pm. Is that because of the refurbishment project currently underway? Well worth a visit as the interior is stunning. Tourist info office nearby as are plenty of cafes.Very recommended.

UNESCO-inscribed basilica with interesting architecture and interior decoration. Lovely colonial design, a thing to see when in Aguascalientes. The square in front of it can get quite crowded.

This Cathedral was built in 1704, 311 years ago. Started by Spanish Missionaries, Aguascalientes was founded as a small mining settlement during Spanish Conquest. These kind of Cathedrals were the symbol of the Spanish Crown Power of those days. Beautifully decorated with New-Hispanic baroque imagery, is the religious center of Aguascalientes City. Recommended to first-time visitor by locals.

An icon in Aguascalientes' history and arquitecture landmark. Located in the zocalo, main plaza, you need to visit this beautiful catholic church as part of your city visit.

This church is so beautiful! The architecture is gorgeous. There is plenty to see near the church. On weekends there is a little mercado where they have a lot of goodies. The inside of the church is amazing. Takes you to another time.

Very historical and as always prominent cathedral in Aguascalientes! It was good for a peek while we walked around the Centro de Aguascalientes in the afternoon ... not much more unless you would like to attend mass!

I stopped for a Hawaiian pizza and a vino at the Cafe Catedral because the location couldn't be beat. The presentation on the pizza was far less than perfect as it looked much like a frozen pizza. It was however delicious and crisp. The area is fenced in, a perfect spot for people watching with reasonable pricing just one block... More

Beautiful historic cathedral in the central city, gold gilt interior. We were lucky to be there when a wedding mass was being performed. Some restoration is taking place outside on one of the towers but it not detract from our visit. Also it was the weekend of the 439th anniversary of the town off Aguascalientes so it was very festive... More
