Love this beach especially when my grandchildren visit because it is so safe & interesting. Unfortunately because I live the other side of Chania I only go when I have visitors! Keep meaning to stay overnight to beat the crowds as every year it gets more popular. Beach food not brilliant but adequate if like me you cannot be bothered... More

The access to the beach is a bit difficult but it's worth the ride! The serpent road is astonishing. The beach itself is huge and very beautiful. There is not much to do on the beach but we were before the season so maybe that's why we had that impression. But it still was worth our time. Highly recommended.

Although Elafonissi is mentioned in every touristic guide as a must-see, I do not find it as spectacular as advertised. I must admit there is an interesting pink(ish) tone to its sand and the shallow waters are really still and clear, but other than these particularities, it's just a beach. To be honest, I enjoyed the driving from Chania just... More

Beautiful beach, the pink sand is not as prominent as originally thought. Go early if you plan to visit because it becomes very crowded and beach chairs are limited. The waters are calm and warm.

The area is very nice and the water very clean. It is interesting to walk to Elafonissi Island, but there is a near beach that is more secluded and we liked more. Elafonissi is clearly higlhy touristic and in high season might be hard to find a parking. Luckily for us t was October and not so crowded.

In contrary to Balos beach, Elafonissi beach is easy to get to with car, no walking over mountains is required, and the nature is at least three times more beautiful. They have lots of sunbeds for very reasonable price, the sea is good for swimming, the water is perfect and there are beach bars near by.
