Every year I find they are making improvements and trying to make the course better. The layout is there, they are working on limited operating budget as the course is Gov.owned. The staff do a great job keeping the course maintained and they are always there early when we tee off at first light.

Very good course, very well maintained, professional operation, good pace and a challenge. After playing the run down marina course it was a treat. However it is twice the price. We paid 230 Canadian for two with a cart. We have golfed all over Mexico and this course does not warrant this price. However with no competition I guess they... More

3 years ago we went there (you can see my old review) it was in bad shape but but now the golf course now is in extremely good shape, very fast greens and soft, the crocs are still there, and they some small parrot. more expensive than what I was expected, but you can deal with Julio

The course is in much better condition than advertised, the negative reviews are old and seem to be an issue of expectations. If one is looking for luxury resort golf, this is not it. But it IS affordable and very beautiful, with a challenging layout that is fair and rewards good shots. I took a caddie and would recommend it... More

First tee box was a nightmare! No Marshall, 2 groups allowed to tee off with "Zero" golf experience and 5 groups waiting on the tee for 15 minutes! All's well that ends well and they moved aside as each group approached. Saved the day as in the end it was a good experience! Course is in good shape and has... More

Reasonable challenging course, decent layout, not too busy and a good value at 1,450P for a round. Greens are tough to gauge speed and some in winter shape.

I recently returned from my mid-January Ixtapa vacation. I previously reviewed this RTJ course on TA (for more detailed course description go to that review- True Objectivity of Jan 2012). However, I have played this as well as Marina during all my recent visits. Positives- - This government owned course (Fonatur) has invested heavily in the past few years in... More

2nd review a year later. Last year I spoke with the club manager and he said they really needed $ from the government to get the course in better shape. Played the course 3 times last week and it is in much better shape. A lot more cutting equipment around and it has improved things a lot. Greens are very... More

I don't understand why you have a review from someone who play this course 10 years ago on your website; firstly the reviewer is wrong -this is a great golf course and secondly, over the past 10 years the quality and number of improvements is amazing. The course is arguably one of the most beautiful I have ever played on... More

There is only 2 courses here in Ixtapa/Zhihua, The Marina course and Palma Real. Both charge the same price and the Marina has 2 holes that in very bad shape. Taking a golf cart there is at your own risk! Yep, no brakes. Palma real put in lots of money 2 years ago and have new irrigation system, new sand... More
