Beach is a 10!!'

This beach is great to walk, three miles round trip. Also wonderful to just lounge. The vendors are not a bother when you say, no gracias. One of my favorite beaches! The sunsets... read more

I have visited often and used to swim at Playa El Palmar, near Pacifica resort and Hotel Barceló. But in the past year, the lagoon has gotten more and more contaminated and SMELLY! The lagoon water empties into the ocean. I don't think the water is clean anymore and want to warn people about this.

Typical of most west coast Mexican beaches. Nice public access. Took a short walk down beach and unable to find any beach bars or restaurants not attached to hotel.

I have stayed many times in Zihuatanejo but never in Ixtapa until my last trip. I really enjoyed my daily walks on Play el Palmar I only wish it had some small beach bars and restaurants for breaks as it is much longer than the beaches in Z.

Playa Palmar is Ixtapa’s public beach. Maybe three miles, it’s a bowl shaped bay of sandy shores from the rocky breakwater at the marina to the rocky cliffs of the seaside hills that dive into the coastline that separates Ixtapa from Zihuatanejo. The beach is graced by half a dozen or so hotels and several condos that face the blue... More

Located in a beautiful bay, Playa El palmar is a picture perfect beach with palm trees, white sand and clean dark turquoise water. If you love medium to big waves, this is the place to be. If you like walking on a beach this is the place to be too since it's a 3 km stretch of sand. At night... More

The bay is really beautiful with all the resorts and hotel around it. What is great about Mexico is a hotel can not block off part of the beach. The beach is for everyone, sometimes you will see fishermen throwing their nets out hoping to catch something. There are no public life guards and the undertow can really be bad... More

Several miles of beach to walk barefoot. Numerous activities on the beach and a glorious view of the ocean.

Husband and I stayed at a private condo (Monarca Ixtapa) North (or maybe it was South I really don't know) of the Hotel Zone which was marked as Playa el Palmar II beach and it was the quiet end so it was away from all the All Inclusive and many resorts and people. We walked many times from our condo... More

This is a great beach for walking and the sunsets are beautiful. There are not all that many public restaurants on this beach as most all of the hotels and their restaurants have gone all inclusive. The waves are rough on this beach but there are people who swim here anyway. This year we saw lots of people riding the... More
