Although the museum was closed (Mondays) the Castle grounds, walkways and library were open and well worth visiting. Don't be put off by the narrow streets there is excellent parking at the castle. Good for atmosphere, walks on the wall and surrounding shops, restaurants etc.

Lovely castle, with the town market just outside the gates. Don't expect bubbly friendly staff though!

How refreshing to visit an old castle and not be overwhelmed with food outlets, souvenir shops and extortionate entrance fees. We paid €2.50 each to visit this castle and other museums in the town. The castle is well preserved and used as an art gallery...More
