The main office at the gate into the castle complex sells tickets for 2.50 euro p.p and you can visit two sites within the castle walls (the art gallery in the castle and the archeology display across the plaza) and two other sites in town...More

Although the museum was closed (Mondays) the Castle grounds, walkways and library were open and well worth visiting. Don't be put off by the narrow streets there is excellent parking at the castle. Good for atmosphere, walks on the wall and surrounding shops, restaurants etc.

We visited this castle one morning in October. It was a pleasant place to wander around although there's not really any information about it within it. We were pleasantly surprised to find an art gallery in the middle of the castle which kept us occupied...More

Lovely castle, with the town market just outside the gates. Don't expect bubbly friendly staff though!

How refreshing to visit an old castle and not be overwhelmed with food outlets, souvenir shops and extortionate entrance fees. We paid €2.50 each to visit this castle and other museums in the town. The castle is well preserved and used as an art gallery...More

Looks like something from Game of Thrones. Very grand. Exotic inside - dotted with palm trees and clearly a venue for shows too, as there are seats arranged amphitheatre style. Two great museums with excellent paintings and artefacts from the region. Also a fascinating cave...More
