This centuries old church is a don't miss it. Beautiful altar covered in gold. Lovely old church as well located within a 3 blocks of the main central cathedral plaza.

We were on a walking tour of the Centro Historico, and had a very knowledgable local guide. He took us into the Santa Rosa church and pointed out the grille in the back. He told us the nuns needed to stay behind the grille to hear Mass, as they were not allowed to be seen in public. We also noted... More

We were there for 4 days prior to the Pope arriving. We didn't think we would be able to get into the churches as security was already over the top. We did manage to see everything we wanted to. It was a very friendly city.

This church is usually shown in the page explaining the Morelia. The facade of the building varying depending on where you see. Its interior is also magnificent with crystal chandeliers.

The Temple of Las Rosas was part of the Sta Catalina Convent (1595AC) and is one of the only two golden baroque altarpieces left in the city. Very interesting to note is that you enter the church by the side, because at the back were the chorus for the nuns. Just in front, there a lovely plaza with picturesque restaurants... More

We spent some time in this lovely and ornate church with incredible art work in the rear gallery area. I recommend this church because it's smaller and seems different from the dozens of others we've seen in Mexico over the years. Also, it's across from the Jardin de Roses which is a beautiful, restful place for a cappuchino and some... More
