If into old castles this is a good one
Aug 2020
Have seen several castles so far in the Czech Republic. Czech has the most old castles in europe. This one was the largest so far. about two dollars to get in. It is in ruins but worth a visit. We took the guided tour to the top in Czech language. they will give you a paper that has the guides information for each area visited in english. They advertise english tours available but we could not get one. Easy free parking for the castle. They have coffee shops and souvenir shops on site. Would recommend if you are into old castles. Bathroom available on site with 2 kron donation. Castle just off the town square with decent restaurants on the square.

Great stop on your trip in Šumava!!!
Oct 2019 • Couples
We visited this castle in the afternoon for around 3 hours and went for the option of seeing tower and palace (full price of 170 CZK). We definitely recommed it!!! We very positively surprised how huge the castle is - but also it's in very good condition! Both guided tours were very interesting and the view from the tower amazing!!! If you are somewhere near this castle, it's worth a visit! ;-)

Best castle in Europe this trip
Jul 2019 • Family
Guide was in czech but you had to go on guided tour to access top level with amazing views and underneath with stalactites and stalacmites. Main courtyard area was really fun - we paid 40kc (1.5€) for 6 shots with a crossbow. Also eagles/owls to look at. Walk around outside castle also pretty. Young kids also really enjoyed. Town of Rabi itself was also pretty. Had lunch across the road in back courtyard. Enjoyable day out.

guided tour is a joke
Aug 2016 • Family
Its not a castle, but ruins only. No interiors, no furniture, just walls. It could be OK, but In my younger days it took less a hour to take a look on the whole castle - without a guide. Now the guided tour is separated in two, each one you pay extra, but there is no reason - only to charge a double. Two or three boards will make a better service than the disinterested girl. The installation of few objects is ridiculous and "multimedial" show is really awkward. Comparing to Hluboka castle, Český Krumlov or Pernštejn castle tours its a complete disappointment - for the same price.

Nice castle, with a good tour. Smaller Czech town, but great vibes. Will definitely return at a later date.

The biggest castle ruin in Czechia
Aug 2016
Once a very important castle in the region is being permanently visited by tourists. Visit offers interesting history and gives knowledge of life in the middle ages. Infrastructure offers a reasonably good refreshments and souvenir shopping. In the nearby it is worth visiting Jewish cemetary and have a look in the beautiful square with baroque
peasant houses. Castle authorities offer interesting cultural events. Summer is the season to visit the sightseeing. The trip could be combined with other cities in the nearby (e.g. Sušice) and nature (Šumava - Böhmerwald). Czech postal authorities issued a stamp with a picture of Rabi Castle last year. The stamp got appreciation as the second most beautiful postage stamp in Czech in 2015.

Largest Castle Ruin in Czechia.
May 2016 • Friends
If you travel to the Sumava region then you must certainly stop here. The largest Castle ruin in Czechia is most impressive. First off, Rabi is a nice little Village. The Castle sits right in town and overlooks the valley leading up to the Sumava foothills. It's possible to visit nearly all of the castle including the tower which offers a wonderful view of the surrounding area. This is also a very historic castle. I love castles and have been to over 25 in Czechia and I have to say this is my favorite ruin. Near the castle are several restaurants and a couple souvenir shops. Guided Tours are around 90kc-200kc for adults. $4 to $8 dollars US currency. Cheaper for kids. If you are going to visit just one or two castles then this should be one of them.

This is a complex, uniquely designed castle. The views amazing. The tunnels exciting. This is one castle where your imagination will go wild. You would regret missing this.
