More than just a store, Casa Michoacana brings together thoughtfully selected work by the best Michoacan artists and artisans. Works in ceramic, metal, wood and glass are tastefully displayed and knowledgable staff can speak to the provenance of each piece and the techniques used by each artist. In a town where the same thing can be seen in many places,... More

This store offers and very interesting array of folk art and contemporary ceramic art by selected artists. There are pineapple ceramics, arbols de la vida (trees of live), Huichol bead art and a number of other excellent examples. The adjacent La Union can ship safely to the U.S., although do not expect any shipping bargains. My wife and I found... More

We have visited this wonderful art gallery every time we are in San Miguel. We have purchased several art pieces and really enjoy the variety of artisans they have on display. Check it out on your away to the Aurora Galleries.

This is a wonderful collection of the best pottery, clay, and other crafts from Michoacan. The owner is an artist himself, and represents other artists. Unlike other galleries, where the owners bargain down the artisans to poverty levels, here the owner is concerned with paying a fair price to the artisans to help them sustain their traditions.

This gallery/show room is full of interesting, unique, and beautiful artwork and artesania. I purchased a small handmade leather bag that was pricier than others I had seen throughout the city, but well worth it. The only issue I had was that after I left the store I noticed one of the zippers was broken. I wish i would have... More

This shop carries only folk art from the Mexican State of Michoacan. Many pieces on display are from award-winning artists. You will find giant urns, beautifully crafted copper, ceramics, glass, woven fabrics and masks. This shop consistently shows pieces of highest quality. The manager and staff are knowledgable and helpful. The manager speaks very good English. Short of making a... More

This modest shop is like a museum gallery, with every piece being wonderful. The owner grew up in Michoacan, and represents twenty some families there who make high quality work. It is easy to visit during a walk from Centro to the remarkable Fabrica Aurora.

We stumbled across this gallery on our walk to La Aurora. We thought the quality of the pieces were very very good and unique. Worth your time if in the area.
