This is the largest Spanish/English library in Mexico and it's always a bustle of activity. Tutors give lessons in the courtyard, the book collection is extensive, there's a theatre where movies are shown several times a week in addition to live performances, a nice cafe, and a large gift shop. The library is a meeting place for people all during... More

We first discovered the Biblioteca Publica when we were instructed to meet there for a day tour. What we found was a warm, welcoming facility in the heart of town that serves not only as a library but also as a major meeting place for multiple tours, many of which are led by volunteers with the tour fees going to... What a wonderful place! Combining art, books, community, this place also has a lovely cafe, and an attached theatre. It is open later than you might expect. If you're staying a few weeks, get yourself a library card; you won't regret it.

Love the Sunday Home tour. Music prior to the tour was excellent. The tour itself is always fun. Prior trips we went to three homes but this year it was limited to two homes. Always interesting mix of modern with old and lots of art.

A valuable addition to San Miguel. Excellent kids' section, I believe the 2nd largest in Mexico (for English books).

Mexico doesn't have a lot of great libraries but this one stands out, and it is worth a visit, and also has a lot of great cultural events.

It was a slow day in SMA so we decided to take the trek to the library. Once again, it was not what I expected. The building and murals are fascinating; but I thought we landed in an American coffee shop, Starbucks? The seating was loaded with retired Americans sipping their favorite brew. We realized later that the Biblioteca is... More

So many great events going on in San Miguel de Allende come through the Biblioteca. During our two-week stay, I attended an outstanding lecture sponsored by the Center for Global Justice, saw a thought-provoking film, and was tempted by opera, a film on Frida Kahlo, and several other activities. I needed more time! It is the place to buy tickets... More
