Very interesting museum in the home of Ignacio Allende, with English and Spanish descriptions of the family's rooms and the history of the Mexican Revolution.

Just across El Jardin. They did a good job putting together history of Ignacio Allende and the independence movement. The house in itself is a very good example of how the wealthy lived in Mexico during colonial times. Loved to see the bedrooms with old furniture and decorations of the time.

We were in San Miguel for a month and only saw the doors open once, so we went then. The house is the family home of the Allende family and is typical of its style. Ignacio Allende is a hero of Mexican Independence and much admired in San Miguel de Allende so seeing his home connected us more to local... More

I loved this museum! It was very well organized, with multiple rooms explaining every aspect of traditional old-life at San Miguel de Allende: from the way people thought to the way they lived. You can walk thru some rooms decorated like they used to during the 1800's, which gives you a glance into how was life for the upper classes, and... This hacienda was entertaining. The main history was in Spanish and English. The descriptions of objects were in Spanish only. Apparently they have a play as well but we didn't stay for it.

If you want to know something about Ingnacio Allende who together (and sometimes against) Hidalgo was one of the most important persons of the rebellion against the Spanish Crown in 1810 you really must visit this house of the Allende family dating back to the 18th century. The atmosphere of this mansion where you can see how a rich family... More

Cost, 50 pesos - absolutely worth the cheap price to learn a detailed account of the Allende family and the importance they played in the rich Mexican history.
