Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Unusual burial place of the Bernard Family who once owned Kinnitty Castle. Well sign-posted in village.

We found this beautiful stone pyramid when strolling around the village of Kinnitty. It was built in the 1800's by the local landlord as a burial chamber for his family. It is a four sided pyramid built on top of a hill at the rear of the church. The way the pyramid was built is amazing.

We were driving through a small Irish town and I was like "Whoa! Did I just read that right?" We turned around and, sure enough, a small sign advertised the Bernard Family Pyramid behind a small stone church.

We followed the path to it and there was a small honest to god pyramid that is doing duty as a mausoleum for several family members.

It was a fun find and a great place to stretch your legs a little.

Kinnity is a tiny quiet village. The last thing you woudl expect to find is a Pyramid based on the Egyptian ones.

visit Mrs Peavoy in the old shop nearby and she'll fill you in on the history of it.

Superb to visit this pyramid in the deserted grave yard. Interesting story behind what is the only tomb of its type in Europe. Well worth the 5 minutes it takes

Can't go in but you can walk around. Short walk from the church. Information plate near pyramid. You could see it from our B&B the Ardmore country house.

I had read about it before hand but didn't realize it was so close to our B & B. We could see it from the front stoop. We walked out and looked around. It's so odd the way we memorialize our selves.
Just a note, the place where we stayed was built by that family. They lived in Kinnitty Castle.

If you are driving through I would for sure walk up to see it. It’s very interesting to know that we have a pyramid in Offaly. We stayed in Kinnitty for 2 nights and only because I read about it in a tourist leaflet I wouldn’t have known it was there. Not worth going out of your way for the 5mins to see and read about it but cool nonetheless.

My family and I drove to see the pyramid. It was nice to see, but I wouldn't drive out of my way to see it.
