About
The Home of Welsh Castle Life: Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the Castle’s exciting past. Caldicot Castle’s impressive structure is surrounded by an idyllic 55 acre Country Park. You will be able to travel through time and discover the home of Welsh castle life, from medieval times to the twentieth century. The castle was developed as a fortress by Royal hands in the Middle Ages and restored as a Victorian family home. The river Nedern winds its way through the park and the wildlife pond is home to a variety of wildfowl.

Very nice day out with or without kids and dog.,
Apr 2021
Very nice Castle with loads of free parking at the Gates or as you enter the grounds. Plenty of walking space and little trails to get around. Dogs welcome and a coffee shop within the courtyard with seating. A pond to the back of the castle and a church to view also in the village. No height restriction on parking and easy access for all . Toilets are in the car park for guests

An impressive castle
Sep 2020 • Couples
Despite the pouring rain, we had a pleasant walk around Caldicot Castle. Free to get in. None of the inside stuff was open due to COVID 19 so we couldn’t go up the tower but perhaps on another visit. The kiosk was open for hot/cold drinks and snacks, with payment by card only. There were picnic tables available. Bought the guide which is very interesting (£2.60). Would pop in again if combining with a visit to somewhere else as well. Lots of space for children to run around in.

Relaxed family birthday gathering
Sep 2020
Our small family group met in the extensive country park yesterday to celebrate a birthday with a picnic.
We could get takeaway coffees from the small castle cafe which was well organised.
The toilets were clean with hand sanitiser.
Quite a lot of people but everyone keeping their distance.

Beautiful day
Sep 2020 • Couples
Decided to come here for a few hours and it was a lovely day which definitely helped. And the inside castle grounds were open which was good.
Free parking is a definite plus, but the loo's didn't have any sanitiser in which is obviously not great in these times.
But apart from that would definitely come back when the castle towers are open

So easy to tie in with a trip to Chepstow
Jan 2020
We visited on a grey day in January but all of these amazing Welsh castles are thought provoking. In better weather a great place to wander. Well worth a visit.

Great halloween
Oct 2019
We visited here the week of half term for their Halloween experience, it was amazing my grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed it. They were given a quiz sheet on arrival and had to solve the clues as they visited the exhibits, at the end they were given a cone of sweets. Overall it was a very good couple of hours of fun

Halloween trip
Oct 2019 • Family
Firstly what wonderful friendly staff! We had a great visit for the Halloween spooky trail... my 7 year old loved it and was suitable excited/scared. I think little ones might find it a bit too scary - my 1.5 year old wasn’t keen but he didn’t really get it! Luckily he found a Peppa Pig display and lots of puddles to jump in outside! We’re going to visit again in the summer for a picnic as it’s such a lovely spot.
