Difficult to give accurate review as renovation work ongoing
Sep 2019
Difficult to give accurate review as renovation work ongoing. Been up to the square many times as there is a great view over the surrounding countryside. Access to the interior of the cathedral is limited due to lots of scaffolding.
Looks like it should be beautiful once complete.

BEAUTIFUL
Jul 2018 • Solo
This is a beautiful cathedral outside. Personally found it a little disappointing inside as well as the opening and closing times were frustrating to gain access. Across is the Museum of Archeology which was very interesting and well worth a visit. I found my way to the roof top Bishop's Garden which had NO TOURISTS in site and i had a lovely quiet and shaded rest up there for a little while. Stunning panoramic view of the coast line and lower lying area of Ostuni. The White City of Ostuni is a definite MUST VISIT if you are going to be in Puglia. It was the most interesting town I visited in my 2 week stay.

Oria Cathedral know for its mummies
May 2017
There is little to be seen in this church called a cethdral in Italy but would not be in most countries. Cathedral is built ion the site of the former palace and main square from Hellensitic times. The cathedrakl is known for ikts collection of mummies in the basement.

1950's - 1960's Puglia Italia-The Italian Diamond in the Rough-A MUST VISIT-3-4 weeks minimum
Sep 2016 • Family
Been travelling extensively throughout Italy for over 25+ years. Even was suicidal enough to own and operate small business enterprises there (20-120 employees). Been there, done that. Never made a Lire, lost tons of money HOWEVER I had the best time of my Life - food, wine, peoples, eco-envionrment, the sand, the sea, the mountains, need I say any more... Yet, I will... This is NOT Italy. It is a unique province not to be confused with Sicilians (who are not Italian and do not speak Italian), Calabrians et al, and the privileged Northerners (Milano, Torino, Venice, etc.) who spouts anti negative remarks about the lazy and stupid, Southern "Mezzagioronos" . Good stay North, we don't need you polluting the South with your modern industrial ways. Best fresh raw seafood and olive oil in the World. Wonderful reds and whites, my favorite red=Negra Amaro old vine, white and sparkling whites. Unbelievable cactus fruit preserves, jams and jellies. Wunnerful Honey. Bees hard workers in this agriculturally rich heel of Italy.

Very nice cathedral, especially for such a small town. I wanted to see the crypt with the mummies, unfotunately that was closed

Hilltop Cathedral
Jul 2015 • Couples
This beautiful cathedral sits at the top of the hill, a short but fairly steep climb, gives rewarding views over the local countryside and access to the cathedral. Inside the use of local marble is superb. Worth a visit.
NOTE: The cathedral closes around 12.00 to 12:30.

Magnificent Use of Marble
May 2015 • Couples
Take a look inside the Oria Cathedral and each of the other churches in Oria to marvel at the extensive use of marble and the magnificent decorated ceilings.

Tour of Puglia
The best church we've seen on our travels through Puglia so far, beautiful setting in a tree filled piazza with some interesting notes on some archeological finding, a breath taking view out over the surrounding countryside. Inside simply stunning marble work and stained glass, with no other visitors in sight. Truly beautiful and peaceful, off the beaten track, but definitely worth a visit!

Travels around Puglia

Lovely hilltop setting, after wine tasting in Manduria at Consorzio Produttori Vini. A stroll round the town, followed by drinks and snacks in a lovely trattoria underneath the castle. Then the cathedral, which is newly cleaned and has a beautiful mosaic dome. Lovely day.
