The museum tells the story of 19th century copper-mining in Allihies and the enormous effects of this industry on the people and landscape. A cafe and gift shop beside the museum open in the summer months. The surrounding landscape is stunning, with beach, river, mountains and several great pubs with good food and live traditional music!

Great cafe and friendly staff

Called in for toasties and wraps and pots of tea. Ten out of ten . Tea refill for free and home made scones are excellent with cream and jam. Definitely call again.

Stopped in here in Summer 2015. Museum itself is very educational. The restaurant itself was expensive, the food was nice but not worth what was being charged! I'd recommend the museum but for food I'd go up the village to the pub for food.

We enjoyed a visit here as part of a clan gathering. It is well laid out and has lots of great displays of the history of mining in the area. The discussion of the history of mining in the area was very informative.

Nice cafe and museum. I'm a museum professional so am trying hard to not be overly critical as it really is a great little museum which tells the story of the copper industry in this remote part of Ireland. I felt some of the objects on display could have had more detailed labels (eg saying where they were from) but... More

The musem is in the main street, with some parking outside. You enter the building into the cafe which looked very busy and had some lovley looking cakes on display, We paid 12 euro for a family of 4. It was a very small museum but there are lots of facts around the roomd. A rolling screen shows old and... More

Very interesting, clean and well organized. There are a few artifacts. There is also a cafe offering light snacks, sandwiches, and drinks.

Popped in for a latte while touring. Great welcome, lovely coffee, and stunning location at the quiet end of the Beara Pennsula. I did not go into the museum.

It;s lovely presentation of the local history, and well worth a trip here.... It would be nice to see more about the lives of the local workers that that of the Puxley family... But, Beware of the woman at the entrance desk... what you might call a right " nasty olde biddy" We decided to have some lunch here, now... More

To appreciate the history of this area a visit to 'The Copper Museum' is a must. The display gives a fascinating insight into the times of the copper industry here.

The Allihies Copper Mine Museum has many informative and interesting displays. However, every member of my family had difficulty with the "flow" of the displays and how that information was organized. Also, the woman at the entrance desk was not very helpful. Please give some thought to rearranging your displays to make it more visitor friendly and cohesive - perhaps... More
