Having never been to Merida before, I found this tour very inviting and informative. I had a sense of peace and inspiration just sitting in the courtyard waiting for the tour to start while enjoying hot coffee and homemade scones. Brent, our friendly tour guide explained some of this history and architecture of homes in Merida and then we left... More

Something not o be missed. Whether you are just here for a week or three months, it something you should do at least once. If you are fortunate to be here awhile the tour is different every week. I wanted to do this when I was here last year but didn't get round to it now I will be back... More

I expected that this would be a tour of renovated houses with stories of how they did it, but actually all the houses on the tour are for sale, so it's more like something a RE agent would do (for free). This is not the only House & Garden Tour in Merida.

It is hard to find anything like the Merida English Library any place else in Mexico. It is a breath of fresh air and like a postcard from home. Even if you are only in Merida on a vacation you can still join and check out books.

and so do the librarians. A nice, musty and pokey place crammed with books, videos and cds. One room packed with Mexican, Mayan and Yucatecan books is quite superb; racks of fiction take up more room that necessary in other rooms...

A visit to the English Library is worth your time. If your in Merida for a while, also take their house tour. You'll be amazed at what is behind those simple walls that you see from the street.

They helped me with directions, internet, books on Merida. The tour and tourguide was outstanding. I got such a good idea of life in Merida from seeing houses and speaking with the owners.

Greatly enjoyed my first house tour with the MEL - 4 great houses, informative guides, nice people. Since this was my first visit, it was helpful to see the different homes in the area to get ideas on where to live and how to renovate colonial houses.

A fun morning with a brief history of Merida residential architecture, then a tour of several houses in the vicinity. Many of the homes on our tour were for sale, a great sales technique, but were very good to experience. We are planning to relocate to Merida, so the tour has relevance to future buyers of real estate in the... More

The houses you visit behind deceivingly blank walls are quite an eye-opener. We're not in Kansas anymore. Such beautiful imaginative interiors and lush tropial gardens make you want to pull up stakes and move to Merida with all the other lucky expats. Conducted by gracious members of the English Library. Look in papers or drop by the Library for dates... More
