The building looks amazing and the people are very friendly and helpful! Too bad the guide (of the free tour) spoke english in a 'Spanish-way'. Very fast, so we couldn't understand everything he was saying.

The young chap we spoke to was very helpful and spoke pretty good English which was very useful to us. We asked about what was going on over the weekend, where the supermarkets were, and how to get to Uxmal. He gave all the information we needed and did so with a smile. Well done.

The attitude and ambiance of this tourist office and others does not reflect the friendliness of Meriida generally. They might as well not have bothered . The office needs sprucing up and customer training would be helpful. May be try a secret shopper

the walks are confined to the area around the central square. The tour is in Spanish and English - the guide who was proud of his Mayan heritage had a good command of English but he spoke way too fast. We enjoy free tours however and meeting the other travellers.

The free walking tour offered by the tourism office is awesome! It's at 9:30 am lasting about an hour and a half and just goes around the main park and gives a great history of the city and the important buildings. It's worth doing to learn more about the city for cheap (just tip the tour guide however much you... More

The Merida tourist office (main plaza, pink building) provides a free walking tour every morning at 9.30AM. The tour should last 90 minutes though I left after 30 minutes because I wasn't getting much out of the tour. The guide spoke quickly and it was pretty difficult to understand what was being said. I also didn't think the information that... More

I did the free walking tour and the guide was speaking English but I couldn't understand him at all. Many people left the tour within the first 10 minutes.

Seems there is always an English speaking staff member on duty. We tried the free walk but abandoned it because unfortunately the guide 's English was a bit weak and we could, only catch evertyv3rd word or so Your results may be entirely different Good luck

Went on the free tour. Tour lasts about 90 minutes and takes you to the sites around the plaza. Tour guide was friendly.

They were very helpful in getting me a map. They also arranged tours, if desired. It is off the main plaza.
