I highly recommend the Hotel Playa Azul! The staff are warm, friendly, and helpful and the location is absolutely stunning. Beautiful snorkeling right off the shore, excellent food in the two restaurants on the property, great pool and beach. We will be back! Thanks to all of the staff for a truly wonderful time!

Our time on the island was spent at all the free - public beaches as we did not have any desire to eat and drink over priced American cuisine at any of the "noted beach clubs of the island" Due to our plane being delayed 2 hours and Playa Azul being the closest beach club to the main center, we... This hotel is a gem! Its small size allows for guests to be well taken care of and a friendly atmosphere created. The room was clean, well appointed and all amenities in good working order. The real attraction for us was the reef right out front. We saw a great variety of fish. Do be aware that the current, out... More

A very good beach, sandy but with vegetation nearby if you need some shelter from the sun. Lots of locals, especially at weekends with their families. Clean, with OK snorkelling too. There is a largish stone monument here, with no advertising or fanfare .... this is the spot where Hernan Cortez and his conquistadors first set foot on Mexican (or... More

Off the beaten path from the cruise ship crowd, this is a great place to hang out and enjoy the water. The food/bar is also quite good and reasonably priced.

We walked to Playa Azul from our condo which was about a 10 minute walk. There is no cover to get in which is nice. Not much of a beach but the snorkeling is amazing which is what we were there to do. Prices for the drinks and food are good. Our waiter was not in a very good mood,... More

We walked a long way to get there and we were rewarded. There is a lovely bar on the beach under a shady palapa. The bar men were very nice and played lovely Mexican music for us when we asked. The place is quiet expensive and has just few chairs on the beach. They charge you 75 pesos for a tiny dish of French fries and 80 pesos for a dreadful glass of wine. If it's a little bit windy they don't open the beach umbrellas (not strong enough they said). Taxis tries to charge you 150 pesos when it's... More

From our hotel it was a 6 km walk but we did it 3X over the days because we felt this was a gorgeous spot to read, relax and float in the crystalline waters. Yes its a free but we ordered beers each time as the staff were very attentive and it was hot! Wonderful!
