Review of: Maiz Town Tour
We stopped at Pueblo del Maiz on our guided Jeep tour of Cozumel and I am so glad we did because this was easily my favorite experience of our excursion. Upon entering the town, we were greeted by Balem, our guide who gave us a brief history of the Mayan culture and the importance of their contributions. We entered and area and were greeted by the Mayans who painted our faces and introduced us to the village. During the tour we made chocolate, tamales, and learned so much about their history and culture. Adrianna was very gracious in accommodating our private Jeep tour and Pueblo del Maiz was one of her fabulous recommendations. We were greeted by guides in full Mayan dress, taught several Mayan words, made authentic tamales and enjoyed them at the end of our tour. We ground cacao seeds to make chocolate, greatly enjoyed a cup of Mayan “hot chocolate,” were entertained with a Mayan dance and played Mayan ball. All in all, a very interesting, fun and delicious time!…

The taxi driver had trouble finding it. Tell your driver it is on the Transversal highway. The entrance does not look like much from the street. It is tucked away right next-door to a long low tequila tour building with a parking lot in front of it. …

We experienced a lovely traditional dance. It was a magic evening for my 5 yo daughter my wife and I. I consider this experience a must if you are in Cozumel. …

Lots of fun at Pueblo de Maiz! We made chocolate, got Mayan style face paint, had tea and saw a dance. The tour was very educational about the life of Mayans. A great experience, would definitely recommend!
