QUICK TIPS -know the Peso-American conversion and decide what you want to pay in American dollars. Ask what it costs in Pesos, convert to American and offer that, your rate will be a better conversion -bring water if you go on a hot day, even though the market is mostly covered -washrooms are 5 Pesos -they have restaurants and places... We spent a morning here and had fun but the market was a letdown. First off, I like to see original things and artist making something or selling something unique. But at this market, 95% of the stall sold the same stuff so after an isle or two you have seen it all. We also found the vendors to be... More

This oval shaped market, which feels distinctly like it was designed to get you lost and then walking past the same vendors again and again, is a place to harass and be harassed. It's a bargainer's paradise, so only go if you're ready to play the game. While most of the goods are handmade by someone somewhere in Mexcio, almost... More

We went with a group of 30 people from our resort. I enjoy shopping and getting bargains, but oh my!!! This place sucks. I understand that these people live off of tourist, but they are so rude and almost forceful. They were literally grabbing the arms of some of the men in the group. My husband and I only went... If you love to bargain and don't mind super aggressive sales, you will love this place. I made it about 90 minutes and had had enough. It's exhausting to be sold continuously on goods you do not want. But I will say that we found some very nice items eventually--hand done embroidery, some very nice jewelry (largely silver)and hand-made wooden... More

Mercado 28 was a stop we made because we wanted to get off the resort and go to a market. We rented a car which would be a real mistake for anyone uncomfortable driving in stressful conditions. As you leave the highway and enter into the city the lines on the road become non existent, speed limits no longer apply,... More

Do Not go to this area. You can get the same priced souvenirs near the hotel zone, where Senior Frogs is. We didn't feel safe here. Some vendors would not let you leave there area without a fight or followed us around.

Last year (2016), I successfully haggled many vendors and went home with a lot of great items. This year (2017) was the total opposite. NO ONE wanted to budge on their prices. And yes, they were still set unreasonably high. I had vendors walk away from me as I tried to barter. There is one particular store that has fixed... More

We visited the market with a group of family & friends. We only managed to see half the market during our 2 1/2 hrs there. We went looking for boys tank tops, bags and vanilla. In typical Mexican fashion you need to barter with the merchants. Most people were willing to come down in price. We stopped in the middle... More

We were somewhat discouraged to go to this market but, went despite what some people said. I loved this market, great deals and friendly merchants. Had fresh coconut and the best tacos imaginable.
