You can get here by taking a bus from the hotel zone, take Bus route 1 and ask the driver to get you off near by Mercado (Market) 23. This is how a mexican market looks like, you may find here souvenirs, fresh fruits and vegetables, mexican toys, mexican candy and flowers for example. Also there are many places where... More

It's a get away from the American eateries and serves real mexican seafood. It's our favorite place to eat.

At the hotel we had excellent Farmer Cheese at the buffet, I asked the cooks and waiters where is the best place to buy, they said take R2 and go to Mercado 23 where the people of Cancun buy groceries, the bus dropped as in a Cancun busy road, we crossed narrows streets and get there asking people about the... Mercado 23 is a very good place to find your party needs, we also liked the friendly people selling all kinds of handcrafts, you feel like buying the whole place! There are sooo many beautiful typical handmade products here.. There is also vegetables, meat, fruit, among some others things to buy here, but the main idea here is just to browse... More

We arrived early afternoon after taking the bus from the hotel. The place was fairly empty. At first the people were very friendly we went to eat at the restaurant next to the store. After eating we went to shop around. We were told by a hotel employee that the prices were ridiculous here and that we should visit another... More

Many people told me this was a very good place where locals go and you won't get ripped off like it can sometimes happen at mercado 28... but unless you want to buy tons of fruits and vegetables (the prices are not that cheap compared to soriana or walmart), it is to my humble opinion not worth the trip.... I... More

We rode the bus from the hotel zone to Mercado 23, spent an hour there and then walked to Mercado 28, where we spent another hour, then we walked to the downtown Walmart, where we passed Plaza 28 (not to be confused with Mercado 28), so I feel qualified to write about the differences between these locations. As soon as... More

What a great local market. From home goods, local produce, beans, grains, butchers, fresh tortillas, thrift like stores. This is a bustling local market, not a tourist trap. Not for the squeamish. suitable for adventurous families. One of the highlights of my trip
