Always full of people and with shows. Lots of live music and people walking bye. You can eat in the different areas around it. It was recently burned by a fire so the main palace looks burned. Nice place to also see the church cathedral of veracruz.

had a stroll in this area with a few friends and found quite a lot of activity going on. street shows, concerts. dancing. lots of shopping and vendors. and tons of old structural buildings to take snapshots of. Be wary the town is a bit dusty and dirty but hey its el mexico. and it wont bother you unless your... More

I have mixed thoughts about this place because I've been there 3 times, and the first 2 were pretty good; but this last time was very uncomfortable. The streets where dirty and smelled like pee, it was also full of locals that made it very hard to walk around. My guess is that on Sundays the streets are dirty because... More

It is nice to walk around and there is often some sort of band playing or some sort of dancing. Why we did not really like was all the people approaching you to try to sell their goods, most of which were cheap Asian imports (sun glasses, Pasmina scarves, and knock-off perfumes and colognes). You have to be careful at... More

The Plaza de Las Armas (the zocalo) was the focal center of our two day visit to Veracruz. Each evening there was music, dancing, and lots of people just enjoying this inviting and engaging town square. One night (Sat. March 7), there was live band and danzon contest, and on the second night (Sun. March 8) there was a dance... More

The plaza itself is average, and the bands and dancing interesting. But, be careful. Someone tried and grab my camera out of my hand here -- in broad daylight (5:00 pm). After a short struggle, I won....the attacker lost. No police around. Please be careful.

Very romantic, watching guys and gals discreetly flirt, boys walking opposite to the gals to make eye contact, beautiful! listening to the local bands while sipping coffee
