The silver shops are great. Some are high end that have worked on reproduction of famous jewelry pieces such as those worn by Frida Khalo...and have won prizes.. Another option is getting a guide to take you to an underground silver market that had similar pieces for half the price and you can even negotiate... They especially start the important... More

Yep, I'm not into shopping experiences, but the one in Taxco is worth it as the silver is cheap here. They sell both jewellery and all kinds of pots, plates, chandeliers, etc., anything silver, name it, they have it.

This was my second visit in several months, and again, I was in awe! I bought earrings, some earring and bracelet sets, and a GORGEOUS bracelet that I just adore. Prices are great! Beware of the outside vendors around the market, and beware of extremely low prices-those items may not be real silver. There is a place right on the... More

I've been to Mexico many times, but never had been to Taxco. I went on a Saturday, took a bus from Mexico City. It's about a 2 1/2 hour trip one way. The main street in Taxco is lined with vendors. Do not go to the shops near the bus stops. Prices are outrageous. Best advice is to go to... More

Had a quick one day trip to Taxco on our way south and all worked out great. The town is on a hillside so lots of up and down with the walking but this gives it a great appearance if you climb or take a taxi/combo to the top of the town (climbing: 45-50mins moderate/difficult) (transport: public one is cheap... You can find anything and the prices are so cheap, great art work in an affordable price, look around first because when you just buy something in the next store for sure you find something else that caught your eye.

You really have to have the time to go through so many stalls in these street market to find what you really want. You can also bargain with your seller but up to a point. Quality of the merchandise is very wide but more on the lower scale though you might find some unique silver pieces by some young silversmiths.... More
