More
En Via is a non-profit microfinance organization working to fight poverty around Oaxaca, and to educate travelers about the power of microfinance by connecting them with local women either through visits to their towns, or through our volunteer program teaching free English classes to women and children. On the visits, travelers meet women who are applying for micro-loans to start or expand their small businesses, from making tortillas to weaving beautiful rugs, to selling flowers in the local market. Participants hear about the women's lives and projects, and what they plan to do with their loans. At the end of the day, the profits from the tours fund En Via's micro-loan and education programs.

This was a highlight of my trip to Oaxaca. The organization does wonderful work and I was very happy to be supporting it with the cost of the tour.

We spent a magical day visiting the homes of several of the borrowers. I was impressed with the staff and volunteers of envia, all of them passionate and supportive of the communities to whom they make small loans. It was obvious that the loans, of...More

We read so much now about tourism destroying communities. When you take an En Via tour, you are actually helping the women in villages outside the city of Oaxaca to build better lives for themselves. Through an interpreter, you get to interact with these entrepreneurs...More

What an excellent and commendable organisation. Compared to other tours we did during our time in Mexico, this was a far more insightful and humbling experience. We met 5 women from weavers to shop owners to tortilla makers, and were able to ask them questions...More

The women speak in Spanish to an interpreter. (then interpreter puts it in English). I think if you asked, the interpreter would be happy to interpret what the Fundacion reps are saying.
