I didn't realize this place was so big. We spent a little over two hours here. Be sure to climb to the hilltop chapel and tour the gardens. At the back of the new basilica there is a moving walkway to get a closer look at Juan Diego's "tilma". There's also a gift shop back there and a priest outside... More

Welcome to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe - the Patroness of the Americas - and home to La Tilma, which depicts the miraculous 500 year old image of the Blessed Virgin Mary. As the world's most visited Catholic pilgrimage site, this is a must-see for every Catholic, especially those in Mexico and Latin America. Every church and (nearly... More

I love going to visit the Virgen de Guadalupe! I feel so relaxed when I visit the Basilica. I went up to the original church and the view from there is amazing! I highly recommend anyone who visits Mexico city to visit the Basilica.

I'm a Mexican proud of my roots, beliefs and culture, The Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, is a sanctuary of the Catholic Church, dedicated to the Virgin Mary in her invocation of Guadalupe, It is the most visited Marian precinct in the world surpassed only by The Basilica of St. Peter. The Basilica of Santa Maria de Guadalupe has... More

The Modern Basilica itself is a large facility, but the various heritage churches/chapels on site are magnificent including the original Basilica. Make the pilgrimage to the top for great views. The gift stores are very good for memorabilia. We didn't have a chance to visit the on site museum, but it was highly recommended. The site is very busy, allow... More

Loved seeing the progression of Catholicism. Beautiful history and conservation of these churches. The new church is massive and reflects Mexican independence of thought and religion the older more Spanish churches are beautiful.

If you are a catholic, this is the most visited shrine in the world. The house of our Lady de Guadalupe, named by the Vatican, the Virgen for the American continent. Large crowds visit it always, quiete a big Basilica, that houses the image of our Lady, in a TILMA (kind of a robe used by the indians, to cover... More

Very beautiful and spiritual journey. We try to come every three years. Take the metro if you can to Indios Verdes and the Villa is just a walk away. No need for a tour.
