Fantastic old building

We just passed by the front of the old university on the main street. It has a huge stone staircase, and it's not to be missed on a walk around the Centro.

When one thinks about university, you usually think about big buildings made of grey blocks and nothing special upon them besides knowledge. Yet, the Universidad de Guanajuato, GTO is not like that. The moment you see it, you won't believe it is a University, since it looks more like an ancient castle or an old church. Made long time ago,... More

Made from amazing local stone. It's hard to miss this university and all the students that make the town what it is.

Climb its steps and you will get a great view of the city. On week days you can enter the campus and watch its old buildings.

Visit the university for its architecture alone!! It stand out against the colonial examples prevalent in the city and shows Guanajuato's modern side. A gorgeous building.

A beautiful campus of historical buildings spread over many blocks and built up the hillside. They had a nice exhibit of art in the courtyard. You can get into most buildings by walking up the callejons(alleys) surrounding the university.
