We did this tour with Sergio, a guide from Plaza Union. Would not have been near as interesting and educational without him. Learned much about the history and methods of mining in GTO. In addition the gardens were well kept and architecture was typical and interesting. Would be fun to go back after having had the tour, since my only... More

Lovely, tranquil, totally deserted when I was there, lots of lovely gardens to amble through and benches to rest upon.

Very pretty site to visit, but could use some better signage or a map to help navigate the area. It will take about 1 hr if you want to stop and take pictures, plus peek at the small museum. They charge a camera fee, though, and there are many steps so it is not appropriate for those with limited mobility.

The hacienda main is most interesting but the lack of signage or brochure in any language makes the visit a challenge The gardens are in sad shape

This ex-Hacienda provides a nice shady stroll through a series of formal gardens. The tour is self-guided, the route is clearly marked and the gardens are clearly named. There is little explanation of the plants or of the history of the gardens. At the end of the walk one can visit rooms of the hacienda house and see room furnishings... More

I'd study up on it if history means anything to you....I'm not content to just look at beautiful things without some context. Has food and drink in a casual, outdoor setting. Can get there on the Marfil bus--get off at Hotel Mision and follow your nose, as it is across the alley from the hotel.

The property of Museo Exhacienda San Gabriel de Barra is lovely. Numerous themed gardens and very tranquil. Also the Hacienda itself is very interesting with all the old furniture and art. We had lunch at the restaurant there and it was very tasty and reasonably priced for the portion size. Great way to spend a few hours in a quiet... More

We loved the beautiful gardens and learned much about life in the 1600s on this homesite/smelter site. Without the guide it would have been useless. Go see the gardens then have the guide explain the hacienda from 1600s.

This is an old hacienda that has a small museum that features the way the house was decorated many, many years ago. The museum part is small and you can see it all in about 15-20 minutes. The gardens are a different thing, they are gorgeous. They have Chinese, Roman, English and Mexican style gardens with fountains and balconies. It's... More
