Built on a private collection the focus is, obviously, Don Quixote. References in many of the paintings will be recognizable if you are familiar with the story (about 1,000 pages for both volumes). Some of the references are simple, i.e. windmills. But others require more...More

Such a following for this legendary character.....a very well laid out museum, with eclectic artworks and explanatory panels. As with so many attractions in Mexico, as the crowd grew and the volume of voices echoed through the refurbished mansion ones tranquil appreciation was interrupted.

Smallish museum with many interpretations of the life of Don Quijote from antique to quite modern. A small cafe is tucked in the back of the museum as well. The museum hosts small concerts with wine and canapes every Thursday for a small fee. One...More

Really impressed by the exhibits in this beautiful small museum. Many varied items pertaining to Don Quixote. Gorgeous coffee shop on the premises. One of the best small museums we have seen. Definitely worth a couple of hours.

Yesterday we visited the Don Quixote museum. Guanajuato has a fixation with DQ. This museum is free! It is in a refurbished mansion with multiple rooms of pictures and sculptures of Don Quixote, many of the quite modern. I like modern art, especially the Mexicans,...More

When in Guanajuato the tranquil cafe inside the Quixote museum is my go-to place for espresso, lattes or steamers. Oftentimes there's a rehearsal going on in the atrium for the not-to-be-missed Thursday evening concerts at the museum. On top of that I try not to...More

I very much enjoyed the variety of interpretations; paintings, drawings, sculptures. From Quixote on a bike to Quixote as an astronaut. What I found most endearing was that, no matter how stylized or abstract the painting or sculpture, you could still tell it was Quixote.

A small, indoor courtyard has some impressive sculptures. There is a really good coffee shop with seats in the courtyard. If you are lucky, you'll hear musicians from the floors above

We took a tour of Guanajuato and this was a not-necessarily planned stop. I've always had a fondness for this story, and seeing so many artistic interpretations of it was a wonderful experience. When we were there there was also an exhibit about Cortez, another...More
