I find this a very average art museum. There are not many exhibitions and nothing in particular very memorable except the giant bronze face sculpture right outside the museum. Visitors are not allowed to carry backpacks into the museum and have to store them at the reception. The nicest thing about this place is probably the building which is quite... More

This is a great museum but if you are going to see the Orozco mural in the auditorium, it is currently under restoration and is not accessible. However they have done a spectacular job with the other exhibits. We were lucky enough to stumble upon the Rufino Tamayo exhibit which was fabulous.

Not a big collection but a good one, if you're in to contemporary art (for there's not much here that isn't abstract), with fine traveling exhibits on display on a regular basis.

This is a small art museum connected to the University,. .We went for the Murals by Orozco (which were under renovation). We were disappointed. There were other exhibits that were interesting including a fashion exhibit on Balenciaga. Also included were paiintings and photographs. The museum is free but there is a box for a gratuity. The building is architecturally interesting inside... More

This was a really neat art museum. It has murals from Orozco and a variety of beautiful pieces of art. It only takes about 1-2 hours to see all of it.

The building itself is very nice both inside and out. When I visited in October 2016 it had two fantastic exhibitions. One was about the works of fashion designer Balenciaga. Even though I am not a fashionista I enjoyed the exhibit with its many dresses and portraits by famous painters such as Rivera and Orozco of women wearing Balenciaga fashions.... More

I just love this building - stunning. Internally, it has a decent sized auditorium used by the Guadalajara University opposite, and several exhibition rooms. I've been in three times, as the exhibitions change frequently. I've enjoyed all of the collections I've seen. Entry is free, you may make a donation at the ticket desk. l say, well worth a visit.

There's a wonderful exhibition at the museum until the 10th July. Over a hundred works which show the evolution of French and Mexican artists since the beginning of the Impressionists which was partly due to the fact that many Mexicans went to the Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. It's not just the works: the gallery itself is beautiful and... More

Museum combined a visiting exhibit from Lyon with the museum's collection to show how location didn't matter in the arts movements. If it was happening in Europe, it was happening in Mexico.

I thoroughly enjoyed visiting and seeing the Los Modernos exhibit! It is nicely user friendly & thoughtfully laid out. It is convenient that they have benches for sitting in the galleries. Most of the narrative is in English as well as Spanish.
