Best beach

La Ropa gets all the reviews and little is said about Madera beach. We found this beach to be the nicest beach in the bay. Shallow, warm and very few waves. A swimmers delight.

We come to Zihua every year and always stay in this neighborhood. There's been great improvement over the years and a few new restaurants have popped up and this year a new art gallery. There's a variety of hotel options and eateries. Best part, if your hotel is here you can easily and safely walk to it all. The beach... More

Even if we are staying on La Ropa we always spend a lot of time in this neighborhood. Lot's of good restaurants on Calle Adelita. Our favorite place to pick up a few groceries without having to make a trip to Commercial Mexicana. The little Mini Super, La Rana has a great selection of almost everything we might need. If... Lots of dogs in the water. Just seems really dirty. Won't stay by this beach again. Good place to walk along with nice sidewalk.

In the heart of Zihuatanejo is quiet Colonia la Madera where you will find some of the best restaurants in Zihua!

We stayed in this area for our vacation. There were good local hotels, restaurants, and shops nearby. The beach was nice and the water warm with with gentle waves. We'll definitely stay here again.

So many restaurants to choose from, however it would be a shame not to walk across the canal and also discover what Zihuatanejo centro has to offer. As our hotel was in the neighbourhood, we ate 3 dinners & 2 breakfasts there.

Many locally owned small hotels, a few low key condo blocks and many great restaurants in this neighbourhood mixed with nice local houses. Leafy green and fantastic views along the hillfront above the bay. Walking distance to Playa la Ropa and Zihua Central (with a few hills). My destination of choice.

While my wife and I stayed on La Ropa during or most recent visit we missed our favorite neighborhood, Colonia La Madera, . While staying on the beach was fun we had to go and visit our friends at Hotel Irma and our favorite restaurants along Adelita street.

That is exactly what is Mexican vacation to me. Spanish style buildings, lots of flowers, small boutique style hotels on a hill overlooking a beautiful bay. Reminds me of Amalfi coast. If you want a real taste of Zihua that an area to stay.
