We visited Matanchen on a Monday morning. I had hoped for so much more than what we got. The previous weekend had clearly been a busy one with trash left behind. Everything just seemed dirty. With that said there are some spectacular views of the mountains as you walk along the beach which is quite wide and long. We were... More

This is a beautiful open bay with a very smooth slope and wide sandy area. The beach area is not... More

Love coming here. Have to eat at Mr. Camaron. One of the best places to eat. A boardwalk is in the process of being built. Part of it is complete. Side walk to walk or ride bikes. A playground for children. Outdoor Exercise equipment. Lots of fun. safe as well.

An expansive, beautiful beach to enjoy. Never crowded with palapas to enjoy the shade. Our friends dogs enjoyed the surf and playing with others.

Lovely beach, very untouched by large resorts. You can experience the warm ocean, the waves, the sand and be undisturbed (except by some ATVs that come and go on this large beach, the beach is about 2 or 3 miles long). Come 5pm and you realize why this place hasn't been developed. There are clouds of mosquitoes that will eat... More

This is a great beach to go to for the day. There are a number of restaurants that will make you comfortable with food and hammocks and icy cold drinks. The surf is generally calm and the water is very shallow. Good place for kids to play.

Lovely long fine sand beach, very flat. We stayed at Aticama B&B and had wonderful long walks on the beach every day. It was possible to walk to the town of Aticama on the beach, much shorter than walking the road.

Matanchen Bay is famous as having the longest point break surf ride in the world...across the point at Las Islitas. Pack a lunch, take the bus home. Watching the green flash from the old Delfin is always a wonderful treat.

Wonderful place to walk and swim, breath in the fresh sea air and feel the sun.The place is mostly visited on weekends bu locals, very quiet most of the time without sellers working the beach.

It's been a long time, since I spent 5 consecutive summers in San Blas, Mexico (69-74) , but I have some intense memories. At that time, the right hand breaking wave at Matanchen Bay, was considered the longest wave on the planet, billed as the longest ride anywhere. I had the pleasure of catching it in that condition, for an... More
