We loved this tour for birding in the San Blas river. We have serious birders and novices in our group and everyone enjoyed it. The birds that the guides could find for us were breathtaking! We got there at 3:00 PM which made it a very comfortable temperature for the ride and nice light for the photos. We did not... More

A relaxing and worthwhile way to spend half a day, especially morning before it gets too hot....the boatman points out in Englisht the wildlife that he spots along the way. Not a lot of different birds this year, but lots of crocs and turtles in their natural habitat!

We drove to San Blas for 3 days to explore nature: the tremendous variety of birds the area is internationally famed for as well as other neotropical critters and plants. Our #1 must-see was the river that meanders its way into La Tovara National Park. Read a few comments here on TA and you’ll soon see that the quality of... More

When visiting in the San Blas, it is highly advisable to take a boat ride through the estuary and mango swamps just south of town at La Tovara. This is excellent for bird watchers as there are many migratory birds passing through the area all of the time. You will also possibly see turtles, crocodiles and snakes. The surrounding country... We saw many species of herons and other water birds. Potoos and Pauraque were common. Plenty of falcons and hawks including Snail Kite and Laughing Falcon. If you are a birder, this is the trip for you.

River cruise in small motorboat was really interesting, gliding through mangroves, white water lilies, with our Mexican guide spotting tortugas ( turtles ), birds, iguana, and of course crocodiles ( they call them cocodrillo ). A very peaceful, tranquil Eco trip. I am not much of a zoo supporter but I did find that a close up look at the Cocodrillo... More

Loved, loved, loved the Jungle River trip on the Tovana river. At the beginning of town, San Blas, jjust at the bridge, you'll find a stand where you can make your arrangements. We were ready to go and so was Javier. We had our own private boat, two of us, for $480 pesos. A bargain for this two hour guided... More

We had a great guide who not only spoke English, he knew so much about all the birds and other animals we saw. Crocodiles, turtles, iguanas etc. We returned in the dark and saw owls and bats. A great trip.

It was recommended that we take an early morning boat trip back into the waters of the San Blas River and explore the birding opportunities. We were also told of the crocodiles and other natural wonders. Our pictures will never let us forget the beauty.
