Playa de Los Muertos is a great place to spend the day. Good people watching. Drawbacks: very crowded and high surf makes swimming difficult.

Our favourite hotel, the Tropicana, sits right next to this beach. Everything's here, parasailing, swimming and great beach service. The vendors are super friendly, and remember us from year to year. We ate empanadas, fish and prawns on sticks, muffins and fruit from the beach vendors.

It's great to have a cocktail on the beach at sunset, and then dinner in one of the many restaurants by the beach.

The views from this beach are always gorgeous, and you might get lucky and see dolphins or whales. The beach attracts swimmers and sunbathers, as it is the best one in the area. Just off the Malecon, near restaurants and shops, it is a wonderful location.

This is a public beach enjoyed by locals, tourists and if you a a gay man it is the place to be. One nice aspect is how the beach is accepting of everyone families, straights and gay people. The water is okay for swimming because the area is calm In fact, our driver told us this is one of the... More

My husband and I really enjoy starting our Malecon Walk from Playa de los Muertos and the Pier stopping along the way at different shopping and dining venues. The small waves at the beach are not body surfing worthy; however, the sunrises and sunsets are awesome from this vantage point!

Mornings are calm at this beach, and great for open-water swimming. In the afternoon, the surf kicks up enough to do some small-wave bodysurfing. A great place for young swimmers to learn how to swim safely in the ocean, and the water is warm. Lifeguards are on duty, and vendors sell activities such as parasailing, jetski, banana boat, as well... More

Great spot to get a glimpse of the local culture. Great little area to catch some sun, grabbing a bite to eat, or drink, or just to sit and people watch. Can be somewhat busy as this is a public company beach.
