This area is filled with American franchises. If you want to feel like you're in the states, this is the place for you.

Golden zone has it all. You can eat in beach side restaurants, shop at Micheal Gallery or eat in any of several great restaurants.

We took the hop-on, hop-off bus through old Mazatlán and then worked our way to the upper scale motels near the "Golden Zone." Nice shaded area, but not any better than some of the other outdoor shops we visited. Viewed as a good way to...More

Went twice to the golden zone. Not a problem great shopping but don't go on cruise ship days. You will not get any deals.

Zona Dorado will offer almost everything a traveller will need, but do your homework before arriving so you have a fair idea of what the Golden Zone offers. Plenty of fantastic restaurants with all price ranges and offerings, and curbside taquerias that pop up in the evenings....More

This area is spread out, but I thought the best shopping was the area closest to the ocean. If you take the bus get off at Panamas and walk down toward the ocean, That's where we did most of our shopping.

This is where you go to find your Mexican souvenirs. Most of the shops have the junky souvenirs. There are also jewelry stores and a couple of stores with good items. You will also find a good variety of restaurants, some right on the ocean.

Most of the shops and restaurants are open , have no idea about Walmart, have been going since 1974 and never been there. Mazatlan is very festive during Christmas.
