Highly recommended for people who like history! You will be amazed to see what the Jesuits along with the natives were able to build in the middle of nowhere in the 18th century, in what must have been a very hostile environment. The drive to...More

This is the very first mission of all those in California. The staff were great at telling us the history, even though we didn't speak much Spanish and they didn't speak any English. Nice place to visit.

Very old bldg interesting to walk around and see some history. I was hoping for more information but the only sign we saw was a plaque outside the mission.

If you decide to visit this mission make sure your driver is somebody comfortable with Windee mountain roads. It's not a difficult drive but it's pretty Windee and Steve in some places. Plus you'll meet the occasional goat horse or cow on the road. The...More

Loved visiting this mission - once we got there. While we were told it was a long drive, it was longer than we expected. Nothing much along the drive (no food, drinks or gas) but once you get there its really quite charming. Beautiful setting....More

I never saw anyone drunk there, only reverent pilgrims visiting truly religious ancient site. Like an oasis in the midst of no-where. There are no restrooms on way there as you are traveling on secondary road thru wilderness!

I did not hike this area. It was about an hour drive from bottom to top.
