Here you can find those things that will bring back fond memories of Baja and your Mexico visit. If you're going to live here like we are buy some art, furnishings, or decorative things. If you read Spanish there are some attractive books; if not ask Claudia to stock a few special ones in English.

Nice little shop with a variety of Mexican folk art. Various levels of craftsmanship. Bought pretty ceramic plate (not Talevera) and a block printed card.

CasaParra is a shop with many surprises amongst a wonderful collection of stunning art works, furniture, decorative sculptures etc etc. The first impression is of a feast of colour represented in pictures, mirror frames ,fabrics and innumerable wondrous pieces. The shop is located right in the middle of town and within very easy access of one of the busy parts... More

What a relief to find a new shop with authentic hand-crafted Mexican artwork! The owner speaks excellent English, and was a wealth of information for each item. The shop is a half-block from the Cathedral, very easy to find. The front is unassuming, so don't miss it. She has textiles, pottery, food, jewelry, paintings, glass, home decor, and more. I... Cassa Parra is the most wonderful store that hardly anyone knows about unless you have been in La Paz for years. The owner, Claudia Parra, is a delightful and knowledgable proprietor in her very early 30's, and a very smart cookie in that she is also a Marine Biologist graduate from University....just in case the store thing doesn't pan out.... Casa Para is a nice gallery dedicated to local and regional craftsworkers. On some days, local artisans are demonstrating their skills, which increases interest. Staff is very helpful and English speaking. In particular, there's beautiful jewelry, painted gourds, 2-dimensional works, pottery and embroidery to be seen and purchased. Much, much more, of course. It's a relief from the ticky-tacky souvenir... More

Claudia has something for everyone with a discerning eye and a shop small enough not to overwhelm but with plenty of possibilities to choose from. Her knowledge of Mexican art and artifacts is awesome and she even has reference books to check with. Close to the old church in La Paz, Casa Parra is easy to find and won't disappoint.
