In March there were few people here, I got up at 09:00, ate breakfast and went to the beach. I had it all to myself for a couple of hours before people started arriving. There is also a nice view. There are monkeys on the road and! Something to note:

- It is a long way to the nearest toilet.
- There are no places to eat
-When it is high tide, you have to wade in knee/hip-deep water to get to/from the beach
- some noise from the long tail boats

Besides the beautiful scenery, rocks, cliffs, caves and gentle and ever so clear water, the beach there is phenomenal. Our kids enjoyed playing there so much and it’s rather large. It will be crowded but your kids will want to be in the water anyways so it’s not crowded there. They enjoyed it here so much that we came back 3 times in a week.

This is a really charming island. There is a mountain island very close to you where you lie on the beach and the atmosphere is very pleasant. There are small restaurants on the island to eat and drink. Prices are cheap and there is no excessive price difference. The color of the sea was super and it was a pleasure when the waves hit.
You can come here with daily boat tours.

Friday 19th January was the first occasion that we visited this beautiful beach, the nicest beach we visited in the area.

We travelled from Ao Nang to Railay on board a long-tailed boat to Railay Beach, then walked here via Railay Bay East. It took about twenty minutes to get here but worth the walk.

At one end of the beach are the two caves with their unusual shrines, Princess Cave and Phra Nang Cave. At the other end is the massive and impressive rock tower, Ko Rang Kai.

It is a crescent shaped beach with golden sands surrounded by mountains terrain we views of islands out at sea.

Like all other beaches there are no sunbeds or umbrellas on the beach. The only shade is provided by the trees at the back of the beach. It appears to be busiest at the Cave end of the beach where the access pathway is. We preferred the other end of the beach, a bit quieter and more tree coverage.

Along the way to the beach there are plenty of small shops to purchase supplies for a stay on the Beach

Canoeing for hire one hour 300 Baht (roughly £7.50).

We did return to the beach a few days later, found a shaded spot in the trees, opposite Ko Rang Kai

From this beach as well as wonderful views of stone Tower that is Ko Rang Kai it is possible to swim/walk or canoe out to the Island's small beach at low tide.

However, on one occasion that we were here, it was at high tide and the island's beach was totally covered by the sea. It can get rather tidal here, so take care.

Only way to reach PhraNang Cave Beach/Railay Beach is by a longtail motor boat (or speed boat) from the Ao Nang Beach. Tickets for the longtail motor boat can be purchased at the shop at the corner of the road. If I recall correctly, this was a centralized shop with fixed rates to avoid scams/over pricing.

Tickets for 12noon to 6 (or maybe 5) PM are priced slightly lower than the tickets for later in the evening. You can book your return tickets from here itself. Although, there is no discount on two way booking.

Tickets to PhraNang / Railay were priced at 100THB/person/side. Its a 15-20mins boat ride. So we purchased our tickets from Ao Nang to PhraNang and walked from PhraNang to Railay Beach and boarded from Railay Beach to Ao Nang. Boats for both side of the journey were different. You must retain your ticket and show it to any of the boats parked on the beach. All can ferry you back to Ao Nang beach.

I could see some of the travelers kayaking there way to Railay/PhraNang Beach as well. Although I do not have visibility on the pricing for this.

On the beach, there are some restaurants as well. I also saw rock climbing happening there, although not sure whether it was part of some group's package or was open for all. Towards one end of the beach, inside a cave is a penis shrine. Yes, you read it right. Have a look at the photos for more details.

The beach is empty in the morning until around 10 am. Use this time to your advantage and relax in a quiet, tranquil environment.

At sunset the beach tends to be less crowded than Railay with equal (if not better) views. Be sure to look at the rock faces and how they change color as the sun sets.

Without doubt the best beach we have been to! White sand beach with beautiful clear water. We just could not get enough of it 😍

Tip:- So glad that we stayed in Railay! The early morning views when the beach is empty is truly divine. Would suggest anyone planning to visit to stay at Railay and experience the beach early morning. The boats from Ao nang start around 8 for Railay best to be at the beach before that. Railay has plenty of stay options and lots of interesting cafes around.

Easy to reach, you take a boat from Ao nang beach for 200baht/head and 15 minutes later you will be at PhraNang. You can spend the day, food and drink are available ( no restaurant only boat food). There is two beautiful restaurant bay view but they’re part of an hotel and you can’t have lunch .
Pro: there is shade for family . Massage spot. Canoe to go around the rock and basic food and drinks. You can go back anytime you want.
Con: it is extremely busy, we couldn’t believe it. It changed a bit the experience !
I managed to take some pictures with almost no people.

The best beach in Thailand and one on the best in the world. We have been returning to this beach dozen of times over the last thirty !!! Years and it hasn’t changed. The view of the rocks is unique the sand strip is wide and clean and the water clear and warm - simply perfect !

This beach has to be one of the most beautiful one in Thailand! We were there 3 years ago and the place was so packed with tail boats and people that it was not enjoyable. This time during the pandemic we had virtually the entire beach to ourselves! We were simply in awe. We also climbed to the Railay viewpoint and the view was stunning. Not to be missed when in Krabi.
