Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This walk involves climbing a very steep, rickety, poorly maintained stair case at the begging and end of the walk. This would be fine if there weren’t so many people on the walk. But the walk is over crowded and with the heavy footfall I wondered how long these stair cases can hold up? Because of this the walk did not seem particularly safe. Didn’t see any monkeys because there were so many people making a lot of noise throughout which probably deters them.

The reward on the end is unbelievable. You will only see monkeys at the entrance. Don’t provoke them and they will leave you alone. Saw tourists bothering them and provoking with food. That is not nice.

Such a fun experience. Don’t touch them. They’re jittery and will fight each other. Just be chill. I’m Canada we don’t pet the damn deer either.

Nice place and free access. Really close to Ao Nang city center. At the end of the beach, you take some wood stairs, to go up along the mountain along the sea. In this small forest are some monkeys families. There are two species. The first Macaques is very familiar and they are not shy with humans. Be careful, they don’t like when people touch them. They can be agressive. Also don’t feed them, because it will not help them to be autonomous for their food research.

Arrived at the trail about 5.30pm, where we met a very knowledgeable, kind, American retiree. He gave us some history surrounding the trail and what he does to help protect the monkeys. Kudos to the man. It helped us understand why we must not feed the monkeys or the effects plastic has on the species - they eat the plastic. The trail is steep, long and beautiful. Saw lots of monkeys. They eyed up everyone who walked past looking for food to steal - do not take plastic bags as they will shred it open in seconds, to get their prize (which we saw happen to a man taking his empty takeaway containers from the other beach). Would definitely do the trail again.

WARNING!. Be aware of a d**khead American tourist who is hanging around near the monkey trail. Single male. Middle aged. Grey hair. Was carrying a black garbage bag- supposedly collecting rubbish from the beach. Complete narcissist. 'Self appointed' monkey police officer.
My partner and I were just walking along minding our own business, taking in the beautiful scenery and appreciating the monkeys- almost having reached the start of the monkey trail -when this arrogant man approached us very abruptly and began telling us matter-of-factly what we could and couldn't take along the monkey trail. There was no polite introduction or normal communication, just instant aggression. The whole thing happened so quick. I'd never seen this man before. He was holding a garbage bag of rubbish he had supposedly picked up. When I asked if he worked here, or who he was, instead of answering my questions, he instead talked condescendingly to myself and my partner (who is 6 weeks pregnant), getting right up in our faces and pointing his finger at us as he spoke, telling us he was saving all the monkeys..The monkeys were his friends and so on, lifting himself up as a self righteous monkey saving hero.
He was not there with any volunteer group or charity or business, or organisation, nothing. I'm not sure why he was there, but it was clear his interaction with us was purely to satisfy his own ego and to boast about how he was saving the monkeys. It was almost as if he was wanting to pick a fight with someone. I'm not sure who this man was, or if he in fact had anything to do with helping monkeys.
We were taken aback by the abruptness of the incident and told him to leave us alone. We started to walk off and attempted to get back into enjoying the monkey trail. Once we were slightly elevated on the walkway, he then charged over along the beach that ran beneath the walkway and began hurling abusive comments at us (like most cowards, from a safe distance). This man outright harassed us and made sure he had an audience of other tourists to listen to him rant on about how he was saving the monkeys and their protector. We didn't see a single monkey along the trail (they were all hanging out near the start of the walk), nor did anything happen to a single monkey whilst we were walking. I have no idea what this guys deal was. Any attempt to communicate from our end was shut down. He was such an unreasonable loudmouth, and would just talk over the top of anything we said. We chose to ignore him in the end and resume the monkey trail, unfortunately, he was a complete energy sap and ruined for us what would have been a lovely time (the monkey trail itself and the beach on the other side were still really beautiful scenery), I just hope that no one else has to endure this lunatic, or if you see him, you know what to expect.

Saw lots of monkeys, no issues at all just walked and played around us, whole families of monkeys and some baby ones. We didn’t see any aggression today but respectfully watched without interfering with them (no feeding or touching them) they were claiming all over the walkway and beach and seems very pleasant and tame. Great experience.
There is a stairway that takes you to a bay that is absolutely beautiful, lovely places to eat and you can hire kayaks if you wish, sea was lovely and warm. We were able to walk in the sea around the rocks on the way back water was shallow around a metre and a half at the deepest point.
Lovely day out, if you have the energy there are lots of vibrant bars and restaurants in the opposite direction in walking distance.

Well you start at the centara hotel near the fisherman’s cafe. Easy walk some points steep stairs but 10 minutes and then you arrive at the centara grand. Nice beach. Can have lunch there

The space was beautiful but there were no money left so we didn’t have a chance to see them. But this bridge is still open and you could jump to the beach 🏖

Have had wonderful stays at this hotel a couple of times. Last visit was Nov. 2014. Wondered how the electric fence they put up to try to keep the monkees out of the resort has worked? Do the monkees still get into the resort?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks,
John.

The monkeys are still there! We saw staff members chasing them with slingshots several times. One morning at the breakfast buffet we saw a monkey sneak close to a table and grab someone's roll, the scamper up on the roof to eat it. And of course we were warned to keep our doors closed because the monkeys knew how to open the mini bar!
