Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I went with a group of friends who left our hotel around 4 pm. We walked single file up and down the uneven, rickety steps with a constant stream of people going the other direction on the same steps. The steps are really only wide enough for one-way traffic, but we were in a constant squeeze of two-way traffic, which forced us to the edge of the steps against a weak and unreliable handrail. With that many people on the trail, we saw no monkeys. We should have gone in the early morning, when there are fewer people out and about. On a subsequent morning, we saw monkeys that came off the hillside and down to the beach to rummage through trash cans for edible leftovers.

Easy and fun activity in ao nang. We saw a lot of monkeys. Mostly at the beach where the path begins.
We were pretty careful and kept a decent distance from the monkeys. On the way home we saw a woman who let a monkey sit on her. It was not so good because she could not remove it and ended up scratching her neck. be careful!
Please note that the beach where you arrive is public, but the restaurant located there is owned by the hotel. There were very high prices for drinks at the bar there.

So, this was a real 'do we, don't we' activity..... we decided to give the Monkey Trail and go and we weren't disappointed with the number of monkeys seen.
This is an hour activity, we arrived at the start of the trail and were welcomed by loads of monkeys. They were well behaved and didn't attack / pester the visitors. They did show interest in visitors however if you show them you empty hands they wonder off and play / fight with each other !!
The beach at the start of the trail is average at best and is littered with plastic and rubbish. The trail itself is about a 15 to 20 minute walk, there are lots of steps, a steady stream of people and a few monkeys en route. The walk is on a wooden trail with a bamboo handrail, there are plenty of steps so appropriate footwear is a good idea. Not suitable for pushchairs, wheelchairs or those unsteady on their feet !
My wife and I enjoyed the walk and the monkeys !

At the end of Ao Nang beach is the entry.
You basically walk up, over and down the cliff at the end of the beach.
It is a wooden boardwalk with lots of stairs. They are currently upgrading some sections but whole walk is still possible.
We only saw 2 small monkeys (marmosets?) up in a tree. We noticed them as seeds were falling as we went past.
There is a security guard for the resort at the other side of the cliff but you just have to sign in/out of the visitor book to use the beach for free. I believe you can use the resort facilities if you pay for a day pass.
Wouldn’t recommend if you have any sort of mobility issues due to steep stairs.

1.Guys be carefull with monkeys, we met several people that got medical treatment after monkeys bite them. Monkeys are wild animals, it's not a circus or zoo. 2.Be aware about poisonous snakes sitting sometimes on the bamboo railing of the stairs.

A pleasant walk along the trial. Though you don’t need to go far for the monkeys! Most of them are by the bridge and surrounding areas of the beach around 11:00-14:00. The higher we went up the steps the fewer monkeys we saw.
The walk feels fairly secure however families might struggle with kids. It’s not a long walk but some steps are a little more challenging further up. A rail goes the whole way round to hold onto but can be difficult with monkeys and other tourists.
A lovely experience and a scenic walk.

A great little trail which takes you to the lovely quiet Pai Plong Beach. Yes there are steps and yes they are all at different heights but it adds to the experience. We headed there during the day with our young children who managed with ease. If you find stairs challenging or uneven surfaces then just take the boat!
We saw one family of monkeys in the trees which was lovely.
The views and the tranquillity of Pai Plong Beach was well worth it.

It was a great trip. Immediately upon arrival many monkeys seen, even one with a small baby monkey. Then we walked along Path to the beach, where we were glad for the cooling off. Was very nice...

I read the reviews and almost gave this place a miss. Wow! So glad we didn't!!! From the moment we started the train we were inundated with the fury beasts!
Clever little sods too! They seemed to be chatting to each other and were also bigger than we thought. We saw two in a hut smoking vapes watching a football match on TV!
As we left there were a bunch at the entrance accepting tips and wishing us a pleasant further holiday.
And the icing on the cake...an e-mail when we got home thinking me (again) for the signed Manchester City shirt that he now wears with pride.
Lovely place!

We were staying at the Centara Grand and used this a lot as a means of coming and going from the hotel to Ao Nang. If walked at the right times (morning and dusk/evening) then this is absolutely doable for most able bodied people - our 5 year old son was happily able to do it.
However, it’s steep in places so you need a head for heights and if you’re generally unfit or struggle walking it might be more difficult…..
Loads of monkeys around - still silly people feeding them despite the signs! Dusk is best time to see them in their family groups

Have had wonderful stays at this hotel a couple of times. Last visit was Nov. 2014. Wondered how the electric fence they put up to try to keep the monkees out of the resort has worked? Do the monkees still get into the resort?
Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks,
John.

The monkeys are still there! We saw staff members chasing them with slingshots several times. One morning at the breakfast buffet we saw a monkey sneak close to a table and grab someone's roll, the scamper up on the roof to eat it. And of course we were warned to keep our doors closed because the monkeys knew how to open the mini bar!
