MUST SEE
Aug 2020
Unique. MUST SEE.
There are 25 rooms but only 3 are open to public
Unfortunately we could not access to the 3rd room because the lift was out of order but the 2 rooms visited were very spectacular and ok for us
The guide is very helpful to understand

Wonderful site, good guided tour

Definitely worth to go down the 700 steps to admire so many calcareous shapes bringing you back so long before the arrival of the homo sapiens. The guide was exhaustive and funny, the group limited to 20 people, and wearing the masks is mandatory (you can buy one with your ticket at 0.6 euro, if you don't have one). Down at the bottom, a suggestive lights&sound presentation concludes the tour, before getting a lift up to ground level. Health measures related to covid are well respected.

Spectacular!

Wow! This was breathtaking. The grotto is amazing with so much to see. A great tour and the end of the tour is well worth the wait! Lots of steps down so you need to be able to cope with that. A lift back up. Really had a wonderful time!

Great guides. Certain tour times are in English or German. Great walkways. Elevator ack to the top. Pictures allowed. Yippee! Pick up brochure to all 76 of French caves! Online tickets a must for non French tours.

Spectacular site!!

This place was unbelievable! The pictures do not do it any justice! It's something you have to see with your own eyes. Going down thru the cavern was a little scary for me as I'm claustrophobic, but the guide was excellent! He gave the tour in French, but would pull aside and translate to us in English. He was very knowledgeable! Great place to go with the family! Lots of steps going down, but there's an elevator to take you back up. It does get cold down there, but they do have blankets available for purchase.

Child friendly with wondeful guide
Aug 2019 • Family
We visited with our five children, the site itself is amazing but the visit made all the more enlightening by the fabulous guide Velia. She engaged the children and made the whole family feel relaxed and welcome. We would highly recommended the visit and Velia's tour in English was excellent. I'd recommend for families with children, an extra layer and proper shoes are helpful as its chilly down there and a little slippy underfoot.

This is a must see place for sure if you are interested in the development of humans and nature.
The cave is simply breathtaking, full stop. Good guides who have a lot to tell. In French, be prepared. If you don’t speak French you tag along and get a leaflet where you can read some of all the stuff that is being told irl.
We have a limited knowledge of French and could understand a lot of what was told. But our youngest (who just started French classes) had a tough time keeping up the energy and enthousiasm the rest of us felt.

The museum is included in the entrance ticket and is definetly worth a visit too. Some sections provide English translation but their audio guide come in several languages so pick up one of them if French is difficult.

Breathtaking!

This place is absolutely incredible and one that you have to see for yourself, as pictures just do not do it justice. My husband and I almost skipped it, but we are so grateful that we didn't. For those who are complaining about guides not speaking English, it just takes some pre-planning and research on the website to book an English tour. This place is a definite must-see if you're in the Ardeche area.

Amazing PLace!

If you have been in Red Scar Cave in the Yorkshire Dales then this will blow your mind! Its massive, you only get to see about 25% of it, but thats still 27 stories deep according to the lift back out of it!!! A fascinating display of stalagmites and stalagtites that are massive in some cases, allfinished of with a great sound and light display.
