My family and I went off the beaten path and found a little known tourist cave in Wannian County. The English signs say the name of the cave is "Fairy Cave" however it seems to also be called Xianren Cave.

The man running the cave, a local party leader, was very kind and I think surprised that we showed up. I don't think many tourists visit this out-of-the-way spot as the lock to open the gate entrance to the caves had seized, and we had to take the hinges off the gate door to get in. lol. Once in, we had the entire cave to ourselves. While not big, it is big enough to explore with a small group and there are statues and signs in the cave telling you about the cave's history. Inside, archaeologists discovered the oldest pottery yet known anywhere in the world - dating to between 20,000 and 19,000 years old! Very neat.

Our family had a nice time there and as we exited the cave, it started snowing, which looked beautiful against the palms and ferns near the entrance.

There are washrooms nearby as well. Overall, while not the highlight of our trip in China, it was a nice way to pass an hour or so while out and about.
